As President of MediaWhiz, a Hyper Marketing Inc. agency, Ed Kats oversees the agency’s suite of digital media and strategy services. In this capacity, he leads client-based strategic initiatives and fosters overall partnership growth, leveraging MediaWhiz’s email marketing, lead generation, social media, search marketing and display advertising capabilities. Consistent with his prior role as executive vice president of performance marketing, Kats is responsible for product and client strategy as well as driving the evolution of ROI marketing.
Kats joined MediaWhiz in March 2006 from online marketer SilverCarrot, where he served as executive vice president. Originally hired by SilverCarrot as a vice president, he was the agency’s first employee and helped build the organization from the ground up. During his seven-year tenure he created the vision for and led the development of SilverCarrot’s ad/offer optimization engine. He was also instrumental in raising several rounds of venture capital.
Prior to his time at SilverCarrot, Kats began his career in 1993 with Clear View Technologies (formerly ASCOP Corporation), a $300 million global marketer, exporter and fabricator of consumer electronics and electronic media. He held a number of roles there, rising to vice president where he led a team of 300-plus employees that specialized in international electronic media marketing and distribution. In this capacity, Kats developed marketing and product strategies for Global Fortune 500 companies entering emerging markets. He successfully created brand awareness, positioning and distribution strategies for notable global brands like Hyundai, LG, Grundig, De’Longhi, Tyson Foods, Louis-Dreyfus and SKC.
Kats earned a bachelor of science in business management from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is fluent in several languages, including Russian, Hungarian and Hebrew and resides in New Jersey with his wife and children.
