5 questions with ReviewMe Roy

Who are you?

I’m ReviewMe Roy.

What are you?

I’m the official mascot for ReviewMe.com.

What is your inspiration?

I wake up every day and the first thought in my head is, “how can I provide both valuable feedback and buzz to advertisers in the blogosphere, simultaneously allowing bloggers to increase their revenue while mainting their editorial integrity and true voice?”

That’s what drives me, and that’s what we’re trying to do here at ReviewMe.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

I enjoy traveling to exotic locations. I do this as part of my duties to increase ReviewMe’s brand awareness. What happens is, for instance, I go to Tahiti and walk around on a beach and people go WOW! look at that guy who looks like a giant ‘Me’ with legs and arms, he’s so cool, let’s go to ReviewMe.com and check it out!

Any favorite blogs?

I really like reading Chartreuse.

[...] The marketing angle is definitely different with this project. I am not quite sure if this started out as a "hobby-project" and then gradually expanded from there, or if they simply have a great sense of humor. Most evidently found in the blog-entry, 5 questions with ReviewMe Roy . I like the sense of humor and I like the fact that they are trying to be different, but I am not quite sure how the general public will react. Perhaps the money is enough to maintain the interest, maybe not. Time will tell.  [...]

A quick Google search, and the results are either, in the minority, sponsored ReviewMe.com reviews (that is, reviews of ReviewMe.com, paid for by ReviewMe.com)l, and then the plethora of web chatter about the service in general (which I assume is not paid-for as the reviews don't disclose being sponsored).

So - Anybody know of any actual third-party sponsored advertiser reviews by bloggers using this service - that is, reviews brokered by ReviewMe.com, but *not* actually reviewing ReviewMe.com itself but rather other products/services? I haven't found one...

And yes, I'd like to participate - I personally have no qualms about being paid for a review b/c it would be clearly disclosed as a sponsored review. There's no credibility concern in my eyes; it's about being up-front and doing business. But I just hope to first hear some positive feedback from the "pioneers" on ReviewMe.com's reputation and practices etc, particularly regarding payment for non-positive reviews.

Well, that and I admit I don't have the traffic yet to earn the big money anyway ;) Looking forward to seeing how this pans out!
