I hand code. Always have. I have worked for companies in the 1990's that made us use Frontpage. I've always disliked it. Nobody thinks my sites are pretty. However, they convert well and do well in search engines. Nearly all of my clients are repeat customers and my work has a high referral rate. I do not build sites for people. I don’t use Frontpage. Before I was in SEO, I was a usability consultant to some local Washington state businesses for their websites. I always felt that I did a good job and was well paid and thought of. Kim makes me realize that I never touched the tip of the iceberg. Her reports will make you a believer as soon as you order one. I didn't feel confused or frustrated at any point. On the other hand -- what is 'easy and intuitive' to me in terms of usability may not be so for you. Usability isn’t about “seeming” usable. It’s about a user being able to perform the task they want to perform. Given that definition, I’m not sure you’ve made a point.
